School Rules

Most of us know exactly how to behave and we do not need rules to tell us.  However, the following rules have been written down to avoid misunderstanding.  All pupils are expected to do the following:

General Expectations

  • If you are absent from school, your parent or carer must phone in on the day and follow up in writing explaining the reason
  • Be punctual to school and to all lessons
  • Follow directions given by all members of staff
  • Do not use abusive language or aggressive behaviour
  • Put litter in bins
  • Do not damage or deface any buildings or property
  • Wear the correct school uniform in school and when you are travelling to and from school
  • Know the school boundaries and do not go beyond them, unless you are given permission by a teacher
  • Do not cycle in the school grounds
  • Bullying will not be tolerated
  • Behave in a responsible and appropriate manner at all times on your way to and from school.

In Classrooms

  • Always have your Student Planner and all necessary equipment
  • Allow others to work undisturbed.

In Corridors

  • Walk quickly and quietly on the left - no running
  • Do not carry or wear outside coats
  • Eat and drink in designated areas only
  • No ball games.

Banned Items

The following must not be brought into school:

  • Drugs of any kind, unless the Medical Room and your Tutor are informed beforehand and agreed
  • Anything which could be used as a weapon
  • Mobile phones, personal stereos and any other expensive items
  • Tippex, spray paint or permanent ink markers.

Consequences

  • The school has high expectations of everyone's behaviour
  • We will congratulate when you meet these
  • If you do not meet these, the consequences will be as serious as your behaviour. For very serious or regular breaches of the Code of Conduct and rules, this can lead to exclusion
  • Incidents of poor behaviour will be reported to your tutor.

Remember

  • The purpose of the Code of Conduct and school rules is to bring about a calm, purposeful and happy atmosphere in which we can all thrive. We all have a part to play in this.
