Who is the course for?
The course is for students wishing to pursue a professional career in the music recording industry or to further their own performance, composing and producing skills.
What can it lead to?
With the international recognition of BTEC courses such as this, you can progress straight into employment. If successful there are a wide variety of prospective careers that you can explore, for example: music publisher, sound technician or sound engineer (recording industry).
The BTEC National Award in Music Technology (Recording) has the equivalence of one GCE A Level, and it is possible for you to progress further into higher education, as successful BTEC National qualifications give UCAS points for university applications.
What are the entry requirements?
6 A*-C grades including English and Maths. Fundamentally you should have a broad education including, for example, a BTEC First in Music and the interest and potential to succeed in achieving the qualification.
How will I be taught?
The course consists of three compulsory core units plus a
choice of a further three units from a range of specialist areas (to total 360 guided learning hours).The focus of this qualification is to provide students with the opportunity to specialise in the recording of music, and specific areas within this, such as audio engineering and working with live sound. By seminars and practical workshops you will develop with the aid of professionals currently working in the industry.

Ideally you will have a modern computer with the power to run music and audio editing software
