Syllabus Name: Diploma in Digital Applications
Yr 8 and 9 - All students follow this course. Unit 1 is completed in Yr 8 (equivalent to 1 GCSE) and Unit 2 in Yr 9
Course outline:
- AiDA -Award in Digital Applications (Unit 1 only) - equivalent to 1 GCSE
- CiDA -Certificate in Digital Applications (Unit 1 plus any other unit) - equivalent to 2 GCSEs
- CiDA+ -Extended Certificate in Digital Applications (Unit 1 plus any other two units) - equivalent to 3 GCSEs
- DiDA -Diploma in Digital Applications (Unit 1 plus any other three units) - equivalent to 4 GCSEs
Assessment:
There are no formal written examinations. Learners complete a substantial project and showcase their achievements in an e-portfolio.
Summative project briefs (SPBs) are published on Edexcel website. New SPBs are issued in September each year.
E- portfolios are internally assessed and externally moderated.

It provides the ideal foundation for those students who wish to pursue ICT at A level
Yr 10/11
MOST students will have completed AIDA (equivalent to 1 GCSE) in Yr 8 and CIDA equivalent to 2 GCSEs) in Yr 9.
- This course is for students who may want to continue with ICT to complete the DIDA qualification (equivalent to 4 GCSEs)
- This will include completing two more units of work.

Syllabs Name: AS level Information Technology
Syllabus Number: H117
Course outline:
This course helps ensure students develop a wide range of ICT skills together with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of ICT.
AS coursework is structured around tasks which cover a wide range of skills.
The emphasis is on business ICT focus, rather than the traditional Computing perspective - and candidates can gain skills that can be transferred into the business world.
Assessment:
Unit G061: Information, Systems and Applications (Externally assessed 60%)
Topics covered in this unit: data, information, knowledge and processing; software and hardware components of an information system; characteristics of standard applications software and application areas; spreadsheet concepts; relational database concepts; applications software used for presentation and communication of data; the role and impact of ICT - legal, moral and social issues.
Unit G062: Structured ICT Tasks (Coursework 40%)
Candidates have the opportunity to explore design, software development, testing and documentation.

Sixth Form
Students in the sixth form can study AS and A2 ICT.
ICT Resources
Both GCSE and A-Level courses are taught in three ICT suites, all fitted with computer desks, laser printers and a scanner in each room.
All ICT suites have interactive whiteboards.
ICT Club
An ICT club runs every lunchtime for students in all year groups, to help them complete their homework for the subject.
